Yoga Interview: Debbie Brummitt Part I
Yoga to me is unity. It teaches strength, balance, and flexibility, but, also the calming of the mind. It is also rejuvenation. It helps me take on the rest of my day.
How long have you been practicing yoga?
About 8 years.
Why did you start taking yoga?
I was taking classes at the local gym (like Body Pump and a cardio class) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. A friend told me, “Oh you should come on Tuesdays and Thursdays because we take yoga.” I thought it would be so easy. When I came, the last spot left was right in front of the teacher. I still thought, “ This will be easy. I’ll show them.” Well, it wasn’t. I was sore for days.
What are the top three ways yoga has influenced you?
- Yoga has improved balance, strength, and flexibility.
- Yoga had given me more confidence.
- Yoga has reduced my level of stress and anxiety.
Do you prefer to take a class in the morning or evening hours?
Morning.
What is the pose you most want to master?
Handstand.
How do you feel after taking a yoga class?
I feel the three R’s. Rejuvenated, refreshed, and restored.
